Finish line

After fighting a strong headwind down the coastline, we arrived in Villano Beach yesterday evening and were greated by Chris' Mom eagerly waiting for us with balloons and cold drinks! Danny, Chris's brother was waiting in the car, avoiding the sand as much as possible.

It is still hard for us to believe that this trip has come to an end. Right now we are in Gainesville moving stuff out of Emily's apartment. It is tough getting back to the real world!

We will post some more updates soon with pictures from our last two days of biking and for our arrival. We just wanted to let everyone know that we made it!

For those of you currently following us, our current inactivity is because we are sitting in a McDonalds enjoying AC, dipped ice cream cones, and lots of ice water. It is a toasty 93 degrees outside with a heat index of 101. It really feels like a wonderful hot summer's day in Florida, complete with a fresh, salty ocean breeze, and the slightest scents of low tide and boat gasoline.

It is both exciting and sad to be back in Florida. We have been in touch with our pickup crew (Chris' mom Connie and brother Danny) and they will be in St. Augustine in 2 hrs. We expect our ETA to be about 6pm this evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Gainesville and back home - we have missed you! We will be updating the blog with the last few days that haven't been posted yet, as well as with more from today.
